Iceland

I think we ought to be told more about what has been going on with regard to money being deposited at high rates of interest with the Icelanic banks.

What I want to know is how much did the finacial advisers, agents, or fund managers earn in commission from suggesting that the deposits be made. If no fees or commission was paid then all well and good but nobody does something for nothing in this world.

I want to know when the Treasury was advised as to any problems, some people have made a killing on this and we should be told. It is not the hedge funds who are to blame for the current crisis, it the advisers and commission men who entrusted other peoples money to them.

The Prime Minister needs to come clean because this has a nasty smell about it. Why should people who deposited money because they were due to receive a higher rate of interest be compensated? If nothing went wrong then would they have complained that they received more interest than me who took a safety first approach.

This stinks to high heaven. There must a public inquiry, in this way people may begin to be educated to the effect that the higher the rate of return the more the risk.
