Equitable Life

I invested in Standard Life back in 1979, a thirty year Endowment Policy where I pay about £180 p.a. where the return is guaranteed to generate £13,000 to pay off a mortgage. A very fair return I hope you will agree.

I considered investing in Equitable Life but the returns were actually higher. Why would I not have invested in Equitable Life, because I thought that the returns were not realistic. I had a choice, same as all investors have. I will never agree that the taxpayer should compensate for every poor investment choice. Nobody was forced to invest.

Finally, if they had made excessive profit would they have complained. If somebody 'invests' in the stock market or financial products nobody says thet have made too much money. You cannot have it both ways!
