Thinking time please
1. I must admit that when I was in paid employment some of my colleagues used to get slightly fed-up with me. The reason being that to them I did not actually do anything.
2. I used to just sit in my seat with no papers in front of me apart from a note pad which I used to occasionally put some words on. You see I was thinking.
3. Thinking of ways to improve the efficiency of the department. Thinking of ways to get data into a format that others can utilize.
4. The problem is that we seem to ahve something called a work ethic, which to many people means that something must be produced. That there has to be something which has fundamentally changed.
5. I contend that poeple ought to be able to sit in their work place and not be criticized for thinking, not actually producing anything.
6. Some would say that you can think outside of the office, I think anybody who suggests this is wrong, unless it it is in the context of evening classes to gain knowledge. Why should people have to take their work home with them.
So, more thinking time please, and paid thinking time at that!
