If it subsequently falls it cannot be because of Osborne, it will be the structural problems. It would appear that all countries are trying to get their exchange rates down. They all want to reflate their economies by devaluing, all the major currencies are competing against each other. This is no different to the beginnings of the Great Depression. The role of government is to protect their countries, the Arab states can use economic weapons to defeat us, whereas they do not have the armaments they now have the money.

Just like it was rumoured how Russia was going to bankrupt the west during the cold war period the oil producers have got us over a barrel, we are going to have to withdraw soon from Afghanistan and Iraq.
