Government of national unity

I am listening to the Today programme and wonder what will be said in the budget which has not been explained already through Treasury spokespeople.

Housing for example. Now let me explain. Apparently the governmnet will announce funds to allow councils to purchase unaffordable houses so as to alleviate the housing shortage amongst those who need social housing.

Now consider that you bought a home on a housing estate where large numbers of houses are unsold. So the council buys those unsold houses and puts those in need of social housing in those houses.

So, the original purchaser now lives in their private house next to those entitled to social housing. What will that do to the value of the private expensive house. Yes, I think that this will drive down values even more. This is going to be a ruinous policy, social engineering at its worst. Abandon hope Anrew, a government of national unity.
