Killing women and children

When will the international community, which includes the UK, actually tell Israel that by murdering 20 or so children that they are guilty of breaking international law and committing war crimes.I know we will get the usual response about Hezbollah hiding in buildings surrounding themselves with families but why are the Israeli armed forces not taking on these people face to face. They are being cowards by bombinbg and shelling from a safe distance.As for Bush and Blair surely there time must be up. By allowing American planes carrying bombs to land and refuel in the UK then we are just as guilty. Same with all those who refuel the planes, those who work in the airfields and also our troops in Afghanistan and Iraq. Do you not realise that we are killing women and children. That we are kidnapping people and handing them over to be tortured and killed. That we are allowing the militia groups to operate by proxy just like Hezbollah are proxy fighters for Syria and Iran.Israel is acting just like the Nazis in WWII. Killing defenceless women and children. We are no different by supporting them. Mind you these are Arab women and children so they really don't matter do they!!When Bush and Blair connived over the illegal occupation of Iraq they opened Pandorras box and now the end game is fast approaching. It will not be WWIII in the way that some people thought with nuclear bombs it will be a slow revolution with the overthrow of the governments who have led us to this disaster.

World war III

Devons detain terror suspect is the headline to a story by the Echo July 29. "We have succeeded in removing a very nasty and dangerous man from the streets" is the official quote. Who has decided that this man was a terrorist. Why is he not a freedom fighter trying to free his country of the occupation by troops associated with an illegal war which led to the defeat of their military forces.It is bad enough that people thought Blair was just the poodle of George Bush and that they both had blood on their hands but Blair is no poodle. From the radio interview I heard which he had with Bush it seems he really does believe he is on a mission. this is really scary. We are just sleep walking into a disaster of our own making. Our troops are just following orders but they seem totally ignorant of the nature of this conflict. To Bush and Blair, despite their denials, this actually is a crusade, a religious crusade to rid the world of non-christians or at least to put them in their place. The first world war started over the killing of the Archduke Ferdinand, one single man. Will world war three start with the capture of a single Israeli soldier on the Israeli border with Palestine. I ask you again to look into your history books and look at the war of Jenkins ear and what it subsequently led to.

Wallis

now that Maria Wallis has left her post of Chief Constable maybe now the Police Authority would like to resign as well. They have admitted they also made mistakes and surely they must go as well. They should have been more involved in the process and if they say they were not then why exactly do they do the job. Are they paid to attend meetings where they do not seem to know what is going on. Are they really as ignorant as they appear to be. Should the police authority not be an elected body. they are just as culpable as maria wallis.As for being compassionate for her recent family issues may I say that Mrs Wallis was not very compassionate when she ordered the reduction to the salaries of the civilian staff under her control.

Exeter High Schools PFI

I know that this is an unusual request but may I suggest that readers, who know my stance over the Exeter High Schools PFI read the Construction News for Thursday the 20th July in particular page 5. On this page a whistleblower who published lists of allegedly blacklisted electricians will face his former employer at an employment tribunal in November.This person, Mr Wainwright claims he was dismissed for making protected disclosures about widespread fraud on Mowlem's Exeter Schools PFI project, where Haden Young was the M&E subcontractor.Bearing in mind the disputes over delivery and acceptance of these schools my opinion is that Devon County Council must immediately order a full investigation into these allegations. They cannot just accept the schools particularily if there is shown to be concerns over the quality of the standard and performance of the electrical wiring in any of the schools.Please remember that the council have already admitted that contaminated cement was used in the construction of the schools. When will they order a full independent report into what has gone on in the building of our expensive, £315 million, schools.

War in August

Tthe Prime Minister will be going on holiday in August. the Foreign Secretary, who spent about 14 weeks away from this country whilst minister in charge of DEFA is going away on a well earned holiday in her caravan leaving the wonderful, I have never been corrupt but I have been unfaithful to my wife, John Prescott, in charge of this country.People in ever larger numbers are being killed in the middle east and yet the government thinks that it is OK to take a holiday, because they have earned it. Well 'yo Blair' you've earned it alright what with having to give all those announcements in the commons announcing the names of all our dead soldiers. It must be awful for you with all that blood on your hands. However, we must not be too harsh so you go and enjoy yourself and come back to a world in flames. When did Hitler invade Poland to start WWII, when was the Archduke Ferdinand assasinated in 1914. Ignore history at your peril.

Topsham Road

I am sorry to take this tone with Devon County Council but how sly can you get. They are completely destroying the route into Exeter along the Topsham Road by reducing to almost nil the beautiful grass verges which have been a feature for as long as I know for ever. Once gone they will never be reinstated.How dare they destroy a feature of the journey into Exeter. They have already reduced its width by widening the footpath so that it is shared, and very dangerous, with cyclists. Even then cyclists continue to use the road. Why not bring in a bye-law that at least says that where there is a cycle path the cyclist must use the path rather than reduce the traffic to a crawl. Cyclists, of which I am one, cannot have it both ways. Huge sums of money spent on putting in cycle paths and then continue to use the roads. What a total and absolute waste of taxpayers money.As for the roadworks along Topsham Road I thought that only routine maintenance could be carried out during the summer months and not road 'improvements' so what has DCC got to say about changes to the road lay-out.

Iraq

please may I congratulate the Echo on trying to keep the readers up to date as to what is going on in the middle east. However, readers must understand that there is no way that Bush nor Blair can actually criticise Israel over the actions it is taking in Lebanon. Why not? Please consider this.Did not Blair lie when giving the reasons for invading Iraq. It was to achieve the overthrow of a legitimate government even though that government was detestable. There was no UN mandate.Did we not kill cilvilians when bombing Iraq into submission. Was it not our missiles fired by our military personnel, who were just following orders, that destroyed bridges, roads and killed innocent women and children. Have we not trained the militia who are now killing people from other religous groups.Is it not our soldiers who capture 'insurgents' and hand them over to be tortured and killed by the new 'democratic' government of Iraq.Are we not killing civilians when taking on the Taliban. Our soldiers are now in Iraq because the 'democratic' government wants us to be there, as well as the UN. Where are the blue helmets denoting that we are UN troops. Where are we actually patroling the streets protecting the local population in what is not a civil war but is sectarian violence.Neither Bush not Blair can accuse Israeli troops and commanders of committing war crimes because we have done the same since invading Iraq. Again our troops have a choice. They can continue to commit war crimes and eventually face the consequences or they can refuse illegal orders. We can be forced into silence over this issue but the truth will always come out. Bush and Blair are war criminals no different to Stalin, Hitler and Tojo.In the meantime four young teenage girls are criminals who are jailed overnight because they wrote some graffiti on a pavement. Get real people. Murder and mayhem with a potential world war and what fills the letters page!!!

Troops out of Iraq

please do not print any letters about me jumping on any sort of bandwagon over the disaster of the events now unfolding in both Iraq and Afghanistan when I say that it is really time to withdraw from these waste lands. As I have said earlier we are part of the problem not the solution. When exactly will Blair stop announcing the dead every time he goes to the despatch box on Wednesdays? When there is the inevitable multiple deaths will he read out the names of twenty, thirty, forty soldiers or will he recall parliament during the long summer holiday break. Our soldiers will not be taking any relaxing breaks.We have recently had the 90th anniversary of the day in July 1916 when about 20,000 troops died in one day on the Somme. I wonder what the ignominious Mr Blair would have done if he had been in the house on July 2nd 1916. It would have taken all day. Mind you he has just had a law passed which prevents other people reading out the names so will he make an announcement when he returns from his latest family holiday. You have serious blood on your hands Mr Blair, not only of our troops but also the blood of the many innocent Afghani and Iraqi peoples who are dying because of your so called war on terror. In my honest opinion you are the terrorist because if it really was a war against terror then the first country you would have invaded and overthrown the leaders of would actually have been Saudi Arabia, which is where most of the criminals who organiazed the suicide mission against the Twin Towers actually came from. You are a liar Mr Blair and when you go you can take the awful John Prescott with you. Troops out of Iraq, now!!!
